Grade 7-9

(Middle School) is mandatory for students aged 12 – 14.

The government provides some help for students who live within the city and suburbs, but the government provides FREE education for students from the rural areas and the group of learners under the rules and regulations of Special Education Promotion Act. Most students who graduated from Primary Education (Grade 1-6) continue their education in Middle School. According to the statistic in 1996, 99.1% of students who graduated from primary education. This is the result of a policy to promote secondary education, as well as the examination system was abolished in 1969. The schools with the secondary education system are distributed into 30 cities and up to 40 schools in rural areas.

The middle school admission uses the boundary division system. Students who graduated from primary school will be selected to enroll the middle school in their areas by the random system. This method is used in both government and private school under the purpose of keeping the same standard for both types of middle schools and reducing the student’s pressure from the entrance examination system based on the secondary school curriculum of 12 elective courses and an extracurricular activity.

Tuition Fee: For government school, the education is free for every Thai national child. For private schools, the tuition fee could be around 6,000 or Baht  or $200 per one academic year. For international school, the tuition fee could be 370,000 Baht or $12,300 per one academic year. (The other 2 major fee school charged to parents are fess for textbook and school meals.)

Other Fee: Fees for books and classes may be 10,000 baht per year for a child in school outside of Bangkok. Parents are required to pay a nominal fee for books and necessities. They are also required to buy a school uniform. The price of uniform is varied depending on each brand name. The price normally starts from 1,000 Baht or $40.

Text Books: The school will provide a set of  text books and exercise books according to the National Education Development Plan for students in each semester. The students have their own choice whether to purchase the book or borrow the book for their classes. Teachers usually provide a copy of in-class exercise or homework for students. (For private and international school, text books and uniform might be  varied and more expensive.)

Teachers: One teacher for one subject and most of the time one teacher remains in the same classroom. Students are required to retate to different classroom when changing the subject.

All Scouts Activities:

This activity aims to instill discipline and rules for coexistence.  It’s also aimed to recognize the sacrifice and benefit to society and way of life in a democracy. The Scouts activities in accordance with the regulations of the National Scout Office. The core curriculum to meet the 2552 (BE) Basic Education Curriculum.

Red Cross Youth Activities:

Red Cross Youth activities for students to participate to develop the students’ curriculum for Basic Education Act of B.E. 2544 (1997) to focus on more of the activities organized for the students as a group learning to join the appropriate activities and share with others. The purpose is for students to enjoy activities manually selected by an aptitude and interest. It aims to give students a moral discipline. It is desirable to make a positive contribution to society by the students as a practice-oriented solution who emphasis on the process from planning, analysis plan of improvement and work together as a team.
